{"id":222,"date":"2016-11-01T10:03:36","date_gmt":"2016-11-01T00:03:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/alrichardson.com\/?p=222"},"modified":"2016-11-01T10:03:36","modified_gmt":"2016-11-01T00:03:36","slug":"hiding-mayas-output-wnidow","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/?p=222","title":{"rendered":"Hiding Maya&#8217;s output wnidow"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had enough of Maya&#8217;s output window, I know I&#8217;m not the only one.<br \/>\nFortunately Autodesk have introduced a proces to hide the output window with Maya 2015+<\/p>\n<p>This is done by setting the System Environment Variable: MAYA_NO_CONSOLE_WINDOW 1<br \/>\nand restarting your computer.<\/p>\n<p>To implement this navigate to System Propities > Advanced > Environment Variables<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture-1.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture-1-271x300.png\" alt=\"capture\" width=\"271\" height=\"300\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-224\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture-1-271x300.png 271w, https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture-1.png 419w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 271px) 100vw, 271px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I get to this screen in Windows 10 by hitting start and typing &#8220;Environment Variables&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Once you&#8217;re in the Environment Variables screen, click New<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture2.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture2-300x284.png\" alt=\"capture2\" width=\"300\" height=\"284\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture2-300x284.png 300w, https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture2-317x300.png 317w, https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture2.png 612w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>and create the variable &#8220;MAYA_NO_CONSOLE_WINDOW&#8221; (without the quotations) and set the value of this variable to 1.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture3.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture3-300x75.png\" alt=\"capture3\" width=\"300\" height=\"75\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-226\" srcset=\"https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture3-300x75.png 300w, https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture3-500x125.png 500w, https:\/\/alrichardson.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/11\/Capture3.png 650w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>once this is done, restart your computer.<\/p>\n<p>Thats it, you should be done.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve found this a much cleaner way to work, espically when opening scenes which have a lot of .tif textures to load.<\/p>\n<p>The only issue I&#8217;ve found is that when done without restarting my computer, Maya no longer accessed the python interparator correctly.<br \/>\nFurther more, when I was loading a plugin which was missing some components, the output window was useful to display this information.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>I&#8217;ve had enough of Maya&#8217;s output window, I know I&#8217;m not the only one.
